The photo I took of this painting didn't turn out well. The varnished black background caught a lot of reflective light, so I used photoshop to come as close as possible to the actual painting. I still didn't do justice to the variations in colors of the wardrobe. The reference I used is a great photo by Peter Koevari. The elegant shape of the red on black immediately caught my eye and I knew it would be fun to paint. The background is pure Ivory Black and the costume is mix of cad red, alizirin and a touch of ivory black. (WN and Gamblin oils/Claessens #13 canvas)
